Project Background

The main purpose of the grant is to support vulnerable household’s economy in the district 6 of Kabul Chahrdi , Qali Wazir Abad targets in the district 6 to support 50 vulnerable HHs to provide them with financial or in kind support for restrengthen livelihoods , and in Qali -e- Ghabi district 7 -25 women and girls and individuals to improve their vocational skills, the project will be focused as gender inclusion to work with women and men through provision of source of income to the 50 vulnerable Households (HH) heading by women, Widows, disabled people with low a financial capacity and elderly people).

The project will conduct a rapid community vulnerability assessment, in the target districts 6 for identification and selection of 50 HH, after completion of the CVA a selection committee will be established for analyses the survey result and to select the 50 most vulnerable HH through creation of a committee (TWEDO team, Community repressive- District governor).
Provision 25 women and girls will eb also selected through conducting community assessment survey in district 7 of Kabul l Qalia-e-Ghabi for building their vocational skills, conducting Psychosocial counselling session and health education to break taboos and raise awareness about the importance of good menstrual hygiene management for adolescent girls and women. The purpose project will be implemented in 6 months with proper planning implementation monitoring strategies and considering the context and our lessons learnt in district 6 -and 7 of Kabul province, the project will address the social economic and health issues of the 25 individual and financially support creation of restarting of livelihood opportunity of 50 vulnerable family’s.<br>

The theory of change for this proposed project to increase community resilience to fight the battle, (provision or revitalization of livelihood options and enhancing women’s participation and understanding about their mental health and wellbeing and personal hygiene, and women’s inclusion in family decisions making through provision of vocational training and start home based business).

Expected Results:
1- To improve livelihoods of 50 vulnerable families in Kabul district 6 through provision financial and self-employment opportunities<br>
2- Enhanced – knowledge, vocational Skills, of 25 women and girls in district 7 about their health, and mental wellbeing though capacity building and awareness rising.

Proposed activities

Component 1: Supporting Vulnerable Household economy through creation or revitalization Household’s livelihoods options

  • The main purpose of the community vulnerability assessment is to find out households with low economy who cannot afford their basic needs, especially who have lost their means of living and source of livelihood after the political changes and high market fluctional rates. The project will provide 50 HH with required toolkits for restarting a activity to generate incomes based on their interest experience e.g. if an household source income was selling vegetable due to recent crisis they have lost the equipment or cash in case they have equipment’s for continuation of their daily business for provision of daily needs to their family are not financially and morally able to restart their work the project will support them in restarting their work by provision of financial support ($ 300 -per households) to start a livelihood opportunity for supporting their family needs and continue generating income.
  • The project is planning to build the most vulnerable HH resilience by supporting women (headed households, Widows, disabled and Poorest) of the project participant male female family member who cannot afford their daily basic needs due to joblessness, disability, low financial weak status) to start or revitalize a small business based on their interest and ability to support their families’ basic livings needs (food, education, Health expenses house set etc..).
  • The range of financial support for each 30 Household will not exceed form 300 $ as small grant as means or a source of sustainable livelihood. there will be selection criteria developed at the designing stage of the project will be communicated with target community through development of joint committee. the committee with be const of project team, community representatives, member of TWEDO community network) for assessment and selection of the most vulnerable households the target beneficiaries (vulnerable HH for provision of source of livelihood in close coordination with the community elders and TWEDO HRD’s network who are supporting project mobilization session in the target districts.
  • To assure the source of livelihoods is used for generation of an income for the house holds an MoU will be signet the household and TWEDO to define their roles and responsibility and TWEDO role to support the new started badness of the households, impact on the life of the target group, the impact of the financial support will be demonstrated through sharing case studies and success stories.
  • Monthly meeting of the livelihood project beneficiaries will be held by TWEDO to see progress of the newly establish or restarted business working opportunity by the 50 HH representative and, discus challenges and ways forward for sustainability of their livelihood opportunity

Component 2 – Women Capacity and Skill building and health education:

The political changes, and curses human and natural disaster contributes to increasing level of vulnerability among all Afghans especially women and girls and over all impacted household economy. Vulnerable households lost their source of livelihood most of families cannot afford their basic needs.  The ban on women education and work is one of the major challenges excluded women from being an active citizen, (joblessness, low income, high market fluctuation low economy and women don’t have a role to support family economy, social economical and politically damaged women’s position in society, they are mentally under pressure feeling hapless and experiencing mental theorems living in depression and anxiety and experiencing high GBV at family and harassments in public places).
